BJP rides high on its recent victory in state polls

New Delhi, June 1 (ANI): Riding high on their recent victory in Karnataka's state polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is hopeful of emerging victorious in the forthcoming general elections.

Giving a customary welcome to B.S. Yediyurappa, the newly elected Chief Minister of Karnataka at the National Executive Meeting in New Delhi, party workers and leaders of BJP chalked out a strategy for the general elections with renewed optimism.

Party President, Rajnath Singh speaking on the occasion said that the people have shown faith in the party and it is good for the future of the party.

"We have emerged victorious in Karnataka and our party workers have worked hard for it. I want to congratulate our state leaders on that. I feel we have gained popularity among the people and on behalf of the entire party, I would like to thank the people of Karnataka," said Singh.

In the meeting that was a run-up to the next parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP's spokesperson said that there is an air of acceptance for the party in the entire country.

"We feel that the entire nation has given a verdict in favour of BJP through these elections. The people of India want L.K. Advani as their Prime Minister. We want to spearhead a much stronger campaign after this and we are hopeful of a emerging victorious," said Prasad.

Prasad observed that with the victory in Karnataka, BJP is in power in seven states while National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and its partners are in power in another five states.

He further added that the extensive marketing of the union budget presented by United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government's Finance Minister P. Chidambaram fell flat, as it had no content.

Prasad also said that the 'UPA government lacks the will to control the prices'.

"Where it all went wrong with the budget was that they (Congress led UPA) did the marketing of a badly packaged product very well. Therefore, the farmers are still suffering, suicides have not stopped, inflation is still there, the common man is suffering and this government cannot solve this problem. The UPA government lacks the will to control the prices. The prices are rising," said Prasad.

The meeting discussed a host of other issues besides deliberating on terrorism, price rise, agricultural crisis, corruption, farmer suicide and foreign policy.

BJP is gearing up for a nationwide stir against the Congress government in the assembly polls scheduled to be held in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and in Delhi by the end of this year. (ANI)
