Sitamarhi (Bihar), Aug. 1 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday ordered the immediate deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel in areas which were affected by the swirling waters of the Bagmati river.

He also ordered a high-level probe into reports of almost one lakh people being affected by the river breaching its embankment near Tajpur in Bihar's Sitamarhi district.

According to reports, water of the river have submerged vast areas of land in the district.

Kumar took his decision after meeting State Water Resources Minister Vijendra Yadav, Principal Secretary (Water Resources) M R Nayak and the Principal Secretary (Disaster Management).

Experts, including engineers of flood-fighting cells have been called in to repair the breach, on a "war-footing". (ANI)
