Britt Ekland scotches rumours of romance with John Cleese

London, Sept 1 (ANI): Swedish actress Britt Ekland has scotched rumours that she is having a romantic relationship with English comedian John Cleese.

The rumours of a romance blossoming between them started when they were spotted enjoying a cosy dinner date after Ekland's performance in her one-woman show, Britt On Britt, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Cleese had taken the 65-year-old actress out for dinner at Edinburgh's Cafe Royal Oyster Bar earlier this month after watching her on stage at the city's Assembly Rooms theatre.

But the former James Bond girl, who was married to Peter Sellers, insisted that even though she was wined and dined by 68-year-old Cleese, there was no romantic spark between them.

"John did come to see Britt On Britt," the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

"We went for dinner and had a great time, but it wasn't just me and him - there's no romance on the cards.

"My good friend Dillie Keane, with who I appeared in [2007 touring stage show] Grumpy Old Women Live, was actually staying with me at the apartment I was in, so we all went out together," she added.

Ekland, who divorced her second husband musician Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats in 1992, and who is appearing as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella at London's Shaw Theatre in December added that she's too busy to find love.

"I'm very happy being single but of course it would be wonderful to meet someone," she said.

"The trouble is that I'm never in one place long enough to meet anyone. I'm always on the move. I'm probably at an age when most people start to slow down but not me. I just wouldn't know how to," she added. (ANI)
