Nepal to discuss Saptakoshi flood situation with Indian Government

Kathmandu, Sept 1 (ANI): Nepal's Prime Minister Prachanda today said that the Government will be discuss with the Indian Government about the problems caused by the Saptakoshi floods.

During a meeting with the representatives of the Morang Commerce and Industries Association here, Prachanda said the Government has been carrying out serious discussions with the Indian government in this regard.

Prachanda assured the representatives that an immediate and a long-term arrangement will be made to ferry the products and travelers across the Saptakoshi River and provide the relief to the industries in the Sunsari-Morang industrial corridor and people going to or coming from Mechi and Koshi zones.

Industrialist and Constituent Assembly (CA) member Moti Dugad said that the Indian government has been requested to provide an alternative route to the East-West Highway that has been obstructed when certain sectors of it were swept away by the devastating Koshi floods.

Earlier the industrialists informed the Prime Minister about the problems they have been facing in transporting their products in the market since two weeks.

They also informed him about the lack of security in industrial sector, fuel crisis and the problems inflicted by the power cutoff, Kantipur reported. (ANI)
