Islamabad, Sep 1 (ANI): Sohail Shehzad, who has been languishing in a Jaipur jail for the last 22 years, is likely to be released by September 30. Anis Muhammad, the nephew of Shehzad, said he received an indication to this effect from Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid (Retd) over phone from India. He said that Justice Zahid and two other Pakistan members of the Indo-Pak Judicial Committee, Justice Fazal Karim (Retd) and Justice Muhammad Ajmal (Retd), visited various jails in India, including the Jaipur jail, to search for the innocent Pakistanis lodged there. He said the committee reviewed his uncle's case and strongly recommended to Indian authorities for his release, adding that Justice Zahid informed him that Shehzad would be released after the completion of some legal formalities, the Dawn reported. Shehzad, now 52, the resident of Fauji Basti, Bahawalpur, was arrested from a town in Haryana on March 25, 1988, and was sentenced to three years' imprisonment on charges of illegally entering India without valid papers.
