Ahmedabad-based Kunvarji Group today marked its foray into financial services training and education with the inauguration of the Kunvarji Academy For Learning & Excellence (KALEx) at Law Garden in Ahmedabad.

Set up under the aegis of Kunvarji Investment Solutions & Services Pvt. Ltd. (KISSPL), which has signed a pact with Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX), the academy will offer a range of commodities-related training programmes. These programmes are specifically aimed at meeting the long-felt need of the commodities market for qualified and well-trained human manpower. The inaugural session was presided over by Joseph Massey, deputy managing director of MCX, Mumbai. Ravindra H. Dholakia, professor of economics, IIM-A, was the Guest of Honour. Kunvarji Academy will launch all the MCX programmes in Ahmedabad in a phased manner. The first programme in the series, MCX Certified Commodity Professional (MCCP), comprises 25 hours of learning followed by an online test conducted by MCX. Candidates passing out of the batch would be eligible for appointment as dealers for MCX trader work stations (TWS). MCX has mandated at least one MCCP-certified professional for each of its member brokers. The MCCP course is designed to provide necessary inputs required to get participants well-versed with modalities of the commodities markets such as scope, regulatory framework, trading, clearing and settlement, delivery procedures, and legal and investment issues. The course is ideal for commodity and stock market brokers, investors, analysts, students, treasury executives, bankers, farmers, hedgers, arbitrageurs, etc. The training modules have been designed in English and Gujarati. Following the launch of MCCP, Kunvarji Academy aims at offering MCX Commodity Specific Programs (CSP) which provide a clear understanding of the fundamental and technical factors that affect the price behaviour of the commodity derivatives like bullion, crude, non-ferrous metals, agriculture commodities etc. Kunvarji Academy boasts a modern, 25-seat classroom augmented by a simulation room for terminal training and online testing.
