Yoko Ono wins rights to John Lennon's intimate video footage

London, July 4 John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has won a lawsuit in which a group of collectors questioned her rights to video footage capturing intimate moments of the former Beatles singer, who was murdered in 1980.

Ono's lawyer Jonathan Albano has said that a federal court in Boston, Massachusetts, last week ruled that his client was the rightful copyright holder of the video clips.

He, however, refused to say whether Ono would publicly release the documentary tapes, which includes scenes of Lennon smoking marijuana and composing.Our client is very happy in winning the case," the Telegraph quoted Albano as saying.

World Wide Video, a consortium of collectors of Beatles memorabilia based in Massachusetts, filed the lawsuit against Ono last year.

Ono had blocked a screening of their two-hour documentary that included the rare footage.

The company had planned to show the film, titled '3 Days in the Life', in 2007, and claimed it to be "a most intimate and no-holds-barred" look at Lennon's private life with his family and friends.

World Wide Video claimed that they had bought the rights to the footage from Ono's previous husband, Anthony Cox, in 1970. (ANI)
