New Delhi, Sep 2 (ANI): A high-level central team headed by Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar on Tuesday visited flood-hit areas of Bihar to assess the situation there. The National Crisis Management Committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary, reviewed the flood situation on Monday, and it was decided that he would lead a high-level team for on-the-spot assessment of the devastation. The Centre continues to extend all possible assistance to the Bihar Government for supplementing their efforts in managing the flood situation. The Union Home Ministry is closely monitoring the situation round the clock, and is in constant touch with senior state government officials. Additional army columns and three helicopters have also been deployed for rescue and relief operations. As several villages are marooned and communication with people in the affected areas cut off, the Centre has provided 14 satellite phones. An NDA delegation led by Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani and Janata Dal (United) President Sharad Yadav and other top party leaders also visited the flood affected areas of Bihar on Tuesday.
