Kuala Lumpur, November 2 An electrical engineer in Malaysia has accomplished a fuel feat at 21 km per litre. According to a report in New Straits Times, Ho Chee Ming's feat, in cutting fuel usage by almost half of what most drivers are accustomed to, has made him Selangor's 1 Litre Challenge champion. Ho, who topped 10 finalists selected from more that 1,000 entries for the State Shell FuelSave championship here yesterday, said that Malaysian drivers were too dependant on air-conditioning, which accounts for up to 10 per cent of their fuel usage. Speaking after receiving RM 3,000 worth of prizes for his feat from Shell Malaysia Trading, Ho said that reducing the car boot load and maintaining proper tyre pressure also helped to save fuel. He said other fuel-saving tips were regular servicing of the car, planning routes, keeping your cool and courteous driving, which prevents sudden braking and erratic driving. "This is testimony to the fact motorists are open to take up the challenge to travel further using a litre of petrol," said Shell Malaysia's Retail National Sales and Operations manager Azman Ismail. "We're investing in research and development to help motorists get the most out of every litre of petrol," he added. (ANI)
