Jamelia to divorce footie ace hubby Darren Byfield

London, November 03 Pop star Jamelia and footballer Darren Byfield have decided to get a divorce after being married for more than a year.

The 28-year-old R and B singer has already moved out of their house and is preparing with her lawyers to file papers for divorce.

The couple has come up with a statement confirming the development, however, adding that all priority is on their two children.

"It is with regret that Jamelia and Darren Byfield today confirm they are splitting up and getting a divorce," the Sun quoted the statement as stating.

It added: "No one else is involved. Their priority is naturally their two children."

The pair had first broken-up in 2007, while they were engaged, after the Walsall player was alleged to have cheated on Jamelia with a blonde.

However, they eventually got married keeping in mind the well-being of four-year-old daughter Tiani, in East Sussex in June last year.

A friend said: "Their relationship has been through lots of ups and downs. Jamelia took him back after he was accused of straying, but the last year has been tough.

"Jamelia decided to leave last week and there is no going back this time.

"They are both devastated, but have vowed to remain on civil terms for Tiani."

Jamelia also has another daughter, Teja, eight, from a previous relationship. (ANI)
