Pataudi (Haryana), Nov 3 The New Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi train crushed five persons to death at Pataudi in Haryana this morning when they were crossing the railway tracks. The death triggered protests by the locals who surrounded the train.

The mishap took place at 7:30 a.m, when the five persons were crossing the tracks as soon as a goods train passed the area. They did not notice the approaching Shatabdi train.

"Due to the impact, the engine of the train failed and the locomotive came to a halt," said Northern Railways CPRO, Anant Swaroop.

Soon after the incident, the locals protesting against the incident surrounded the train, said the CPRO, adding that there were no reports of violence.

The identity of the victims is yet to be ascertained. An engine has been sent from Delhi to facilitate the onward movement of the rain. (ANI)
