Kolkata, Nov 3 About 83 movies from 20 countries will be screened at the five-day short film festival in Kolkata. The Kalpanirjhar International Short Fiction Film Festival, which began on Sunday is an attempt by the organisers to give short filmmakers a platform to display their talent. "It is very difficult to tell a story within short period of time. Making a feature film is not all that difficult if you have the money but with less resources and telling a story in a very short span of time is something that requires a great amount of skill and that is why we have decided to do an annual festival dedicated only to short friction genre," said S.V.Raman, trustee, Kalpanirjhar foundation. The festival kicked off with the screening of the 30-minute German movie 'Desert Exterior Day' directed by Mia Garu. "The film is about actors who met at a film set and they try to get known to each other and it doesn't work out. It's a film about miscommunication and the problems when you meet someone and you want to get to know him or her and somehow you try to show our best but you show worst and language jest collapse," she said. The festival will see films from Germany, Spain, England, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Poland and USA apart from Mongolia and Iran, which are making a debut this time. Sixteen Indian short films are also part of the festival. (ANI)
