Maksudpur (Bihar), July 4 (ANI): Maksudpur village near Patna continued to remain waterlogged following incessant rains lashing the region during the last one week.

The floodwaters have inundated several arterial roads, throwing transport out of gear.

Residents complain that the entire region has been once again turned into a pool of water making a mockery of the monsoon-preparation claims made by the State Government and the concerned authorities.

"For the last 8-10 days, we have been surrounded with water. They say that the government has sent some help, but then our situation has not improved. This happens every year, and every year they say that the funds have been given, but these people eat away all of it and we remain in this flood like situation. There is nothing to eat also," said Ram Inder Singh, a flood victim.

Barring a few high-lying areas, the rest of the region is under water.

Residents also fear a possible outbreak of waterborne diseases.

Sarwan Paswan, a village guard said that the situation is grim with necessary daily use items getting scare due to disruption of road transport.

"The roads are submerged, the entire village is in water. People cannot commute, goods and materials cannot be brought here and no government help has reached here till now," said Paswan.

The floods have damaged standing crops, houses and other property. ccording to reports, train services in the eastern state are also affected as the railway tracks in some parts of the state were washed away. (ANI)
