New Delhi, July 5 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party's Prime Ministerial candidate, L K Advani, today asked Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to seek a vote of confidence in Parliament immediately.

Taking to reporters here, Advani said, for all practical purposes, the Manmohan Singh Government has lost its majority in the Lok Sabha and the Government should immediately convene a session of Parliament and seek a vote of confidence.

He said the government has lost its moral legitimacy, but the numerical question must be proved and answered on the floor of the House.

"For the last 18 months, due to differences over the nuke deal between the UPA and the Left partners, the government has been paralyzed completely," he added.

Advani also charged the Congress with surrendering to the diktats of Telegu Desam Party (TDP) for revocation of transfer of land to the Amarnath Shrine Board in Jammu and Kashmir.

He accused the Congress of indulging in a trade-off with Samajwadi Party (SP) the for government's survival.

The Congress wooed the Samajwadi Party after it became clear that the Left parties, with 59 members in the Lok Sabha, would snap ties with the UPA Government if it went ahead and discussed the next steps for operationalisation of the Indo-US nuclear deal.

The SP, whose 39 MPs in Lok Sabha would be crucial for survival of the Government if the Left parties withdraw support is likely to announce their decision to support the UPA by next week. (ANI)
