Karachi, July 5 (ANI): Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has once again said that he was not willing to resign, as he felt he still had a role to play in the country's governance.

He said had he wanted to resign, he would have done so four months ago after the results of the February 18 polls when the PML-Q, a party which he supported, lost power to Opposition parties - PPP and the PML-N

Addressing a traders' gathering at a local hotel, he stressed a harmonious and cohesive co-existence between all political bodies, saying this would require great ethical courage.

He stressed on avoiding political vendettas, adding that these yielded no positive results. He said he wanted to see the incumbent rulers complete their legal and constitutional tenures.

Strongly refuting rumours of leaving the country, he said he would live and die in Pakistan. He said the nation was currently faced by major political, economic, and extremist crises that could only be resolved on a united platform, reported the Daily Times.

Musharraf said the country needed to focus on stemming the rising tide of extremism, as the public had given a mandate against extremism in the February 18 elections. Referring to the recent economic turmoil, he blamed the rising prices of petroleum and wheat in the global market, saying the government needed to resolve these issues. (ANI)
