Drass, July 3 Ten years back on this day the Indian Army captured the mighty Tiger Hills in a tough battle with Pakistani Army regulars, which gave clear turning to the "Operation Vijay". Today, the Indian Army is looking back to this formidable 5,062 metre high mountain with pride and honour. The soldiers and officers of 56 mountain Brigade, recalling the memories on the tenth anniversary of winning back the Tiger Hills from the Pakistani Army, who were campaigning on top of the hill. Tiger Hill and Tololing range victories can be said to be the turning points of the Kargil war as from there on, there was nothing stopping the Indian Army till the time the war ended on July 26. Kargil-based 8 Mountain Division is honouring the units and next of kin of the martyrs and the gallantry award winners during the celebrations, which will be held in its base. According to sources, the victory celebration will be held in the present locations of the units who made "Operation Vijay," a golden page in the history of Indian army. Army would celebrate the 10th anniversary of the battle at Drass on July 26, the day when the battle ended in favour of India and the army wrested all positions from the Pakistanis, sources said.
