Mumbai, Oct 6 Incessant rains for two days did not dampen the spirits of candidates wooing voters for the forthcoming assembly polls in Maharashtra.

Candidates of the Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were seen campaigning in Mumbai.

Congress nominee from Ghatkopar East constituency, Virendra Bakshi, said he did not mind getting wet in his bid to woo voters.

"No I am meeting people and you will see that we will visit voters in the rains, what if we get wet?" Bakshi asked.

Prakash Mehta, candidate of the BJP was not far behind.

"See there is no affect, we are campaigning along with our workers...and also women and senior women workers," Mehta said.

Rains have forced Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi to postpone her campign while a rally of BJP president Rajnath Singh has been called off.

Political temperature and blame game between political leaders and parties is on high ahead of the October 13 polls.

The Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance is taking on the opposition coalition of the Shiv Sena and the BJP.

The elections will be the first major test for the federal-ruling Congress coalition after a strong victory in the general election in May and how the government responded to challenges including a drought and rising food prices. (ANI)
