Varanasi, Nov 6 A group of Israeli tourists was treated to Indian classical music over the holy Ganges river in Varanasi on Thursday. The tourists enjoyed the music on a boat in the river. The experience left them quite thrilled and later they also entertained the musicians by singing Israeli songs. The tourists were drawn to charm of the Indian classical music. "Classical music goes a long way back. Again the Indian culture is so old, so ancient, and lot of knowledge is almost ageless. We can see this world music becoming mainstream music in Europe, Israel and many other places," said Sai, a tourist. It is monophonic in nature and based around a single melody line, which is played over a fixed drone. The music has been made world famous by many renowned Indian vocalists and musicians. (ANI)
