Jeev shoots 71, slips to 36th at Honda Classic

Palm Beach ( Florida), March 7 A scrappy round with three birdies and four bogeys saw Jeev Milkha Singh come back with a one-over 70 at the PGA National Champion Course to be placed 36th, down from his overnight 29th place, at the end of the third round of the Honda Classic.

Palm Beach ( Florida), March 7 (IANS) A scrappy round with three birdies and four bogeys saw Jeev Milkha Singh come back with a one-over 70 at the PGA National Champion Course to be placed 36th, down from his overnight 29th place, at the end of the third round of the Honda Classic.

The Indian ace attempting to get back into top-50 to qualify for the Masters, is now one-over for the tournament.

He Saturday had a miserable start with bogeys on first, seventh and ninth to turn in three-over. Birdies on tenth and 11th saw him gain some ground before a bogey on 15th bogged him down. He closed with a soothing birdie on 18th for his 71.

Camilo Villegas rallied strongly to take a three-shot lead over Nathan Green and Vijay Singh after three rounds. Villegas was at 11-under 199, so even after making three bogeys in a five-hole span in what became a round of 67.

Green (67) and Singh (69) are at eight-under, while George McNeill (66) and Matt Every (69) were tied for fourth. Anthony Kim, who shared the 36-hole lead with Villegas, shot 73 and wound up six shots back entering the final round, tied with Michael Connell (69).
