After a goalless first half, the Latin Americans scored through Facundo Callioni, making it tougher for the Black Sticks now to qualify for the semi-final from Pool A.

New Zealand's Ryan Archibald missed a penalty stroke when his effort came off the frame in the 32nd minute of the opening session at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here.
