Melbourne, Jan 8 (IANS) A red car may be connected to the death of Ranjodh Singh, whose partially burnt body was found on the roadside in Australia's New South Wales, police said Friday.

The partially burnt body of Ranjodh Singh, 25, was found beside Wilga road, Willbriggie, in southwest New South Wales, Dec 29. The victim had been living at Wagga Wagga and was visiting the town of Griffith at the time of his death.

Detective Inspector Paul Smith says police have received significant information from the public.

'Police are currently following a number of lines of inquiry into Mr Singh's death, and are interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed a red 1996 model Ford Falcon, with a spoiler on the back, in and around the Griffith and Wagga Wagga areas in the days before and after the discovery of Mr Singh's body,' AAP news agency quoted Smith said as saying Friday.

There have been a string of attacks on Indian students in Australia, causing an outcry in India. Two of the vicious attacks proved fatal. While Ranjodh Singh's body was found Dec 29, another Indian, Nitin Garg, was fatally stabbed in Melbourne Jan 2.
