Panaji, July 8 Former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and President of Maharashtra state unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) R. R. Patil said that his party is in favor of continuing an alliance with the Congress party in the upcoming elections to the state assembly.

Some of the Congress leaders in Maharashtra are willing to go ahead with without NCP as the party has improved its vote bank significantly in the state in the last general elections.

Regarding, views expressed by some of the Congress leaders against the continuation of alliance with NCP, Patil said, those views are of those leader's individual opinions and not of their party's.

The talks for seat sharing between the two parties will start at the right time, and now it's too early to comment on that, Patil said.

Meanwhile, Congress has warned its Maharashtra leaders against expressing their views on the alliance with NCP in public. (ANI)
