Giridih (Jharkhand), Aug 8 (ANI): Two CRPF soldiers were killed during an encounter between Maoists and police at Laxmantola in Jharkhand's Giridih District on Friday.

The Maoists, who were observing a 24-hour north Chhotanagpur shutdown yesterday, fired at a police patrolling team, around midnight last night at Laxmantola, a senior police officer said on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Sriram Singh of Uttarakhand and Vijendra Singh of Haryana.

The shutdown has been imposed in the Chhotanagpur region in protest against the killing of three naxalites during an encounter in Hazaribag district last week. (ANI)
