London, September 8 British actor Hugh Grant is doing all he can to promote his father, James, as an artist. The 'Notting Hill' star recently helped James, 81, launch his new art exhibition in Southampton, New York. James, who describes himself as an "amateur painter", had a star-studded opening of his watercolour works' exhibition at the Keszler Galley on September 5. Hugh has revealed that his father has been painting all his life, but it is only now that he has started to get the attention he deserves. "I'm so proud of my Dad. My Dad, who lives in London and is originally from Scotland, follows the tradition of Scottish colourists. And I really love his colours in these nature scenes," the Daily Star quoted him as having told the New York Daily News. Hugh's older brother Jamie added: "Most of these paintings came about because when my brother and I get together, my Dad just disappears to paint, so he doesn't have to spend time talking." James' first exhibit was three years ago in London, to benefit a cancer charity after his wife died from the disease. His second show was also for a good cause, with profits from the paintings going towards the Southampton Fresh Air Home, a camp for physically challenged kids. (ANI)
