Washington, October 9 Britney Spears is set to go to trial for driving-without-a-license case after rejecting a plea deal of a year's probation and a 150 dollars fine.

Britney's attorney J. Michael Flanagan said during a court hearing that the singer was being treated unjustly since she's a celebrity and does not deserve even a minor criminal conviction on her record.

Flanagan further added that he would instead consider an infraction for Britney and a lesser fine, though his attempts to dismiss her misdemeanour charge and to put a stay on the trial had been rejected on October 7.

He had argued that she was 'currently unable to participate meaningfully' in her defence because of her conservatorship since her father took control over the singer's financial affairs, reports People magazine.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to go on trial on October 15 in Van Nuys on a misdemeanour charge that she did not possess a valid California license when she hit a parked car in August 2007.

However, the hit-and-run charge was dropped after the singer had compensated the other driver for damages. (ANI)
