Srinagar, June 12 Trade across the Line of Control in Poonch- Rawlakote route in Jammu and Kashmir resumed on Thursday after remaining suspended for a week. Trade on this route had stopped on June 3 when Customs authorities prevented export of 'out of State products'. Trucks carrying products grown out of the state like coconut, kernil and brown cardamom, whose export had become a bone of contention between traders and Trade Facilitation Authorities, finally crossed over on Thursday. However, traders on both sides of LoC have been advised not to give or take orders of items, which are not produced in Kashmir. Sadiq Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Hajeera, Pakistan occupied Kashmir (Pok) said that trade in 21 items has been decided by the government. "It's the government policy. They should convey it in writing on which items restrictions have been put. All the 21 items have already been decided on the government level for trade and we cannot stop the trade at local level," said Sadiq Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Hajeera, Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Authorities agreed to give one time concession to the traders to carry out export of 'out of State products' loaded in six trucks, which remained stranded at Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC), Rangarh in Poonch district for about a week. Several items had rotten in the process. "Our goods vehicles, which were stuck here for the past week have now resumed and I wish that our trade would continue like this. I am very thankful to the Indian government," said a relieved Mohammad Din Magray, a trader. Seven other trucks also crossed over to PoK on Thursday from Poonch, while 12 trucks entered India. Tuesdays and Wednesdays have been fixed for weekly cross-LoC trade on Poonch-Rawlakote route. (ANI)
