New Delhi, Sep 12 Passengers are having a harrowing time as Jet Airways has canceled flights for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday.

The pilots of the airlines are on strike under the banner of NAG (National Aviators Guild), to press for their demands.

More than half of the airline's 760 pilots have gone on 'sick leave' since Tuesday, forcing the cancellation of flights and affecting at least 14,000 passengers every day.

Passengers were seen expressing their unhappiness at most of the airports in the country, over the cancellation of flights by the airlines without any prior information.

" They (airlines) should have given us prior information but we were not provided with any. So, we faced lot of troubles. They should have informed us about what alternate arrangements they have made," said Arindham Mukherjee, a passenger.

Meanwhile, on Saturday the talks between Jet Airlines management and pilots remained incomplete.

According to NAG sources, the pilots went on mass leave after four of their colleagues were sacked.

The pilots are also demanding for the recognition of their union by the airlines.

Jet Airways sources said that the four pilots were fired on disciplinary grounds and described the mass absence of pilots a simulated strike.

Most of the Indian private airlines do not have unions, now the analysts have warned that the unrest at Jet Airways could become the trigger for labour unrest in other airlines also. (ANI)
