Islamabad, Nov.12 An independent candidate in Gilgit-Baltistan, where legislative assembly elections are being held today, has accused the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) of massive fraud.

Deedar Ali alleged that his supporters had caught scores of PPP workers stamping the ballot papers at Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission office, a day before the election (on Wednesday).

Ali's supporters also found about 800 identity cards in the office following which they started protesting in front of the Election Commission building, The Nation reports.

PML-N and PML-Q workers also joined the protest and said that the PPP was wrongly utilising the government's machinery to rig the elections.

More than 250 candidates are taking part in the election being held in 23 constituencies out of the 24.

Keeping in view the heightened terror threat, the authorities have arranged a foolproof security cover for safe and peaceful polls.

Around 5,000 security staff is deployed at the polling stations, majority of which have been declared sensitive and highly sensitive. (ANI)
