Islamabad, Nov.13 Concerned over the state of affairs in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Pakistan sports ministry has urged President Asif Ali Zardari, as its patron, to look into the issue and remove the board's shortcomings.

"Yes, we have requested the President to take time out to address the issues of the PCB, especially the appointments of governing council members and approval of amended draft of constitution, which is laying with the Presidency for the last many months," The Daily Times quoted Sports Minister Pir Aftab Shah Jillani, as saying.

Jillani pointed out that the issue of appointment of governing council members and approval of the new constitution was lingering for long, which is affecting the proper functioning of the board.

"The governing council is like cabinet of national cricket authority. It should be complete and taken into confidence on every matter. We have told the President to address this issue and many others for improvement of the game," he said.

Jillani also accused the PCB administration of by-passing the ministry on several important issues, and said that it was the prime reason why the ministry is pressing the Presidency to approve and implement the new constitution, which bounds the country's apex cricket authority to consult the sports ministry on every important issue.
