Los Angeles, Jan 14 (IANS) US critics have branded former Spice girl Victoria Beckham's appearance on TV show 'American Idol' as a 'sad failure'.

Victoria, 34, joined Simon Cowell, 50, as a guest judge in the first episode of the latest series and critics felt that she was Barbie-like and her face was too shiny and she came across as stupid on the show, reports dailystar.co.uk.

'Her face is just too crazy for the close-up, she has nothing to add,' said a critic.

Others said she added no expertise to the show in which wannabes battle for a record deal.
