London, May 14 (ANI): The England Test team is in the midst of a row over their new kit.

Sponsors ADIDAS want the team to wear white shirts and trousers with red piping as part of their five-year deal with the ECB.

But the players' own bat manufacturers expect them to continue wearing trousers carrying their logos - as has been the case for several years. The matter is yet to be resolved with the First Test against New Zealand starting at Lord's tomorrow.

There is a chance players will wear the new white shirts but stick with trousers in traditional cream - a combination that would look terrible, reports The Sun.

Companies such as Gunn and Moore (Vaughan), Gray-Nicolls (Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss), Woodworm (Kevin Pietersen) and Slazenger (Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood) pay big money to have stars using their bats and wearing their trousers.

Some manufacturers are producing copies of the white ADIDAS trousers but emblazoned with their own logos.

The new kit also means England will no longer wear cable-knit sweaters, which have been replaced by climate-controlled tops. (ANI)
