Kathmandu, June 14 Nepal's Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said the government would ensure security to journalists and would take action against those involved in attacks against journalists at Hotel Malla earlier this week. Speaking to journalists at his Baluwatar residence on Sunday morning, Nepal said his government would leave no stone unturned to provide a safe and sound working environment for journalists. Journalists affiliated to various media associations including Reporters Club Nepal, Federation of Nepalese Journalists and Press Chautari among others, had gone to the PM's residence to draw his attention at the attacks on two journalists affiliated to Avenues TV on Thursday. They also submitted a memorandum in this regard. Casino staff at Hotel Malla had assaulted the journalists when they went to report the police raid at the casino the previous night. Nobody has been arrested yet in connection with the incident despite an FIR lodged by the TV. Nepal said he would direct the security agencies to arrest and take action against those involved immediately. The journalists staged a sit-in in front of the PM's residence before submitting the memorandum, Nepal News reported. (ANI)
