London, May 15 (ANI): Your kids might love their weekend trips to McDonald's, but popular opinion has given the world's largest chain of fast food restaurants a thumbs down, for a new survey has named it the most hated brand in Britain.

An exhaustive list of almost 300 well-known names, from cars to shops to charities was drawn up for the survey. Then a list of brands in 20 categories was given to more than 1100 adults, who were asked to pick one favourite and one least favourite from each category.

The poll for Marketing Magazine declared mobile phone makers Nokia as Britain's most loved brand, while Motorola was one of the least popular brands. Interestingly Skoda emerged as the most hated among motor firms despite their cars being a huge hit with drivers since the 1990s.

While Barclays came out as the most hated bank, Top Shop are bottom shop for fashion and shopping channel QVC the TV station viewers hate the most.

It was evident form the results that how much some famous names split public opinion.

Tesco are both the most loved and most loathed supermarket, Manchester United grabbed the same opinion among football teams and British Airways tops both loved and hated airlines.

Also, Heather Mills was named the most hated personality while ex-hubby Sir Paul McCartney the most loved.

In adverts, the most popular celebrities were Stephen Fry and Jamie Oliver while Victoria Beckham and Kerry Katona were the most hated. (ANI)
