Jaipur, May 16 (ANI): Communist Party of India National Secretary D Raja today opposed the Bharatiya Janata Party's demand for the enactment of a Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA)-like law in the wake of Jaipur serial blasts saying that terrorism could be tackled if people remained alert and not through any special statute.

"Eradication of terrorism from the country is only possible if we remain alert", Raja who is a sitting Rajya Sabha Member of Parliyament said.

Raja's comments came after Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje demanded a law on the lines of POTA to deal with terrorism.

CPI MP Tapan Sen, who accompanied Raja, was of the view that authorities will have to ensure that innocents were not harassed during their hunt for suspected militants belonging to Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HuJI).

Sen said, "Every Bangla speaking person is not a Bangladeshi, he could be from West Bengal too." (ANI)
