Chennai, Nov 16 Heavy rains continue to lash Chennai, leaving commuters stranded and affecting normal life.

The local weather office has warned of heavy rain in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, and neighbouring tiny federally administered Puducherry.

"As far as the forecast for the next 24 hours is concerned, it is likely to rain at most places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. One or two places may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall," said S.R.Ramanan, Director, Meteorological Department, Chennai.

Though the sky seemed clear after a slight shower on Sunday, commuters were stranded due to the sudden downpour.

"It has been raining heavily for the past one week. The roads are blocked due to excessive waterlogging.

Students are unable to go to schools and colleges. Normal life is affected," said Gopal, a resident. (ANI)
