Ranchi, March 17 (IANS) The Jharkhand government Wednesday said it planned to issue show cause notices to over 200 bureaucrats who have not declared their assets since 2007.

'Around 200 bureaucrats, including 46 IAS, 45 IPS and 116 IFS officers, have not declared their assets since 2007,' state Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Hemala Murmu said in the assembly.

'The government will issue the notices and inform the central government,' he said. In such cases, action against errant bureaucrats has to be taken by the central government.

After Congress legislator Madavlal Singh raised the issue last week, the government had sought time to provide details on bureaucrats who had not declared their assets.

Murmu told the house that 54 out of the 100 Indian Administrative Service officers, 20 of the 65 Indian Police Service officers and 14 of the 130 Indian Forest Service officers had declared their assets since 2007.

The issue assumes significance as nearly 11 IAS officers in the state are facing graft cases. Two officers were suspended last year after the CBI raided their homes and discovered unaccounted assets worth over Rs.4 crore.
