Srinagar, May 17 (ANI): Kashmir, which has been sucked into the vortex of insurgency for over two decades, is abuzz with tourists despite the recent terrorttacks in Samba District in Jammu and Jaipur.

In a sure sign that separatist violence is waning in Kashmir, tourists from across the globe throng the valley and the region's idyllic Himalayan countryside.

Tourists who came visiting the Kashmir valley said that they never expected the situation to be this peaceful and said that they were really enjoying.

"I find it pleasant and peaceful here. I never imagined that it would be so peaceful," said Praful Majundhar, a tourist.

"We have come here for a pleasant sojourn and it is a major respite from the heat," said Sativa Deshpande, another tourist.

Harsha, yet another tourist, voiced similar opinions and said, "I am really enjoying myself here. I feel like staying back here."

People of Kashmir are also rejoicing and say that it brings about an economic boost for the region.

"Most hotels and houseboats are crammed with tourists. And we are doing very good business. Tourism in Kashmir is back with a bang and hopefully we will have it continuing for the rest of the month and year," said Sarmad Hafeez, Joint Director, Kashmir tourism. (ANI)
