London, Oct 18 The UK Government has reportedly upgraded its compensation law, following which the British victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks last year, are likely to receive financial support from them.

Earlier, the victims were left without any Government aid, as the compensation law excluded citizens who were injured by terrorists abroad. As a result, the victims were only eligible for a maximum 15,000-pound award from a Government-backed Red Cross emergency fund.

The decision to give them the same kind of assistance as victims of the 7/7 bombings will be announced later in the month. It also is likely to include a lifting of the current 500,000-pound upper limit on compensation awards for all crime victims, with support determined on a case-by-case basis according to the extent of injury, The Guardian reports.

Will Pike, a 29-year-old from London, will be one of the victims who will be benefited by the change.

Pike was injured when he fell from the third floor of the Taj Hotel on the fateful day, after a makeshift escape rope of towels and curtains gave away. Following the ordeal in Mumbai, he is currently facing a life in wheelchair. (ANI)
