India's swine flu toll touches 534

New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) Four swine flu deaths, three of them from Rajasthan, were reported Wednesday, taking the total toll in India to 534, health authorities said here.

As many as 200 new cases were reported in the country, taking the total number of people affected with the contagious flu to 15,926.

 With the three deaths in Rajasthan, the toll in the state has gone up to 26.

 One death was also reported from Orissa - making it the second fatality in the state due to the Influenza A(H1N1) virus.

 'Till date, samples from 80,327 people have been tested for Influenza A (H1N1) in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country, and 15,726 of them have been found positive,' said a health ministry statement issued here.

 Of the 200 new cases, both the national capital and Rajasthan reported 63 cases each.

 With these new positive cases, Delhi now tops the list, reporting the highest number of people affected with the flu in the country - 3,900.

 Maharashtra also reported 10 new cases Wednesday. The state, which reported the first swine flu death Aug 3, has reported 3,838 cases so far. A total of 214 people have succumbed to the flu in the state so far.

 New cases were also reported from Haryana (22), Tamil Nadu (12), Kerala (7), Uttar Pradesh (7), Gujarat (2) and Andhra Pradesh (1).
