Islamabad, Oct. 19 The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has found massive irregularities worth 2.575 billion rupees in the accounts of the Pakistan Post. The AGP report, in particular, expressed shock over unauthorised purchases of two houses worth 63.726 million rupees in Islamabad out of the Renewals Reserve Fund without the availability of allocations budget in the capital outlay. "The houses purchased were neither capitalised nor included in the departmental assets," the Daily Times quoted the report, as saying. The department continued to pay incentives and allowances without the Finance Division's approval and despite clear instructions for discontinuing the allowances. The payments resulted in unauthorised expenses of 253.912 million rupees, the audit report said. It pointed out the department re-appropriated 130.189 million from various heads of accounts without any consent of the Finance Division. The report said the overall system of internal departmental controls was weak due to improper functioning of internal and pre-audit activities. (ANI)
