Singapore, Nov 19 (ANI/Business Wire India): Russell Investments today announced the appointment of Mahendran Nathan as Chief Executive of its business in ASEAN*, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Nathan will be based in Singapore and will play a key role within the organisation's global leadership team.
Nathan's appointment is the result of Russell dividing its business in the Asia-Pacific region into three sub-regions. While Nathan will lead the business in Southern-Asia, Japan-based Bruce Pflaum will focus on Russell's business in Japan, China and Korea. Chris Corneil will continue to lead the organisation's Australian and New Zealand operations. All three sub-regions will report to Alan Schoenheimer, Chairman of Russell's Asia-Pacific business.
Explaining Russell's decision to sub-divide the Asia-Pacific business Schoenheimer said, "We made the decision to re-align our resources and capabilities in the region to better serve the needs of our clients. Over the last few years, we have found that we need to provide our clients in Asia-Pacific with an increasingly diverse mix of investment solutions as they continue to seek improved efficiencies. This new structure enables us to have a much greater focus on each of these important markets."
Nathan joins Russell with a successful track record in building and managing investment banking and wealth management businesses in Asia ex-Japan. Most recently, Nathan was CEO and Managing Partner of Wealth Management Asia, a specialist consultancy in fund management. Prior, he was CEO of Societe Generale Asset Management Asia-Pacific where he was responsible for fundraising in both institutional and retail markets, as well as product development in both traditional and alternative asset classes. He was also a member of the company's global strategy team.
