Kolkata, Feb 20 (IANS) The West Bengal government Saturday said it had no plan to stop the ongoing joint operation against the Maoists despite Home Minister P. Chidambaram's appeal to the left-wing rebels to enter a dialogue.

'The union home ministry has already appealed to the Maoists to participate in talks. So let them first respond to that,' state Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen told reporters here, when asked if the state government was planning to to stop the anti-Maoist operations.

Talking about the inquiry into the attack on the Silda Eastern Frontier Rifles camp that killed 24 troopers and one civilian last Monday, he said: 'The probe is on. Everything will be revealed once the investigation is over.'

Seeking to put an end to the controversy with state Director General of Police Bhupinder Singh over the prior intelligence input on the attack, Sen said: 'There's no need to put extra effort to find out whether there was any prior information on the Maoist attack. It will be made clear very soon as and when the report comes.

'Singh has already clarified that he was misquoted by a section of media and unnecessarily a controversy was being created on the issue.'
