Srinagar, March 20 (IANS) A major of the Rashtriya Rifles counter-insurgency force died when a grenade he was handling exploded in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district Saturday, an official said here.

Major Joginder Shekhawat of 24 Rashtriya Rifles died in the Kangan area of Ganderbal when a grenade he was handling went off, army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel J.S. Brar told IANS.

'An enquiry has been ordered into the incident and the investigations are on,' he said.
