New Delhi, March 20 (IANS) Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh Saturday said the government will establish e-waste treatment facilities in the country.

'It is for the first time we are including e-waste recycling facilities as part of hazardous waste management programme for 140 highly contaminated sites in the country,' Ramesh told reporters here.

Ramesh said India generates around 6.2 million tonnes of hazardous waste annually, of which roughly 3.5 million tonnes is recyclable.
