Two Tibetans trying to cross the Indo-Tibetan border arrested by police

Shimla, June 20 (ANI): Three Tibetans-in-exile, trying to cross the Indo-Tibetan border breaching the police security were stopped by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) near Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh.

Two of them were arrested by ITBP after they crossed Hoopsang Nalla, 25 kilometers from Pooh subdivision and five kilometres away from the Shipki border check post.

The three Tibetans were equipped with satellite and communication system demonstrated at Hoopsang Nalla, before being stopped.

"We have been carrying on with our struggle for a long time now. Our mission is to put our flag in Tibet. This is the place from where we want to start our struggle," said Chime, President, National Democratic Party of Tibet.

The Tibetans stressed that it is their right to go back to Tibet and put their flag in their homeland.

"We want to go back to Tibet. China is killing our brothers and sisters. Thousands and thousands of Tibetan people want to go back to Tibet. We have the right to return to Tibet," said Konchok Yangphel, Public Relation officer, Tibetan Youth Congress.

The Superintendent of Police of Kinnaur district refused to comment on the issue.

Himachal Pradesh Police has arrested about 60 Tibetans so far.

Tibetans have been staging series of protests in the year of Beijing Olympics in an attempt to draw international attention towards their cause.

Tibetan diaspora all over the world are seeking an end to Chinese rule in Tibet and have staged a wave of protests across the world.

The Dalai Lama is pressing world leaders to urge China to ease the crackdown on Tibet and his envoys held talks with officials in China last month, but Beijing blames the rioting on the India-based Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader. (ANI)
