Mumbai, Nov 20 The Maharashtra Government on Friday ordered an inquiry into the violation of human rights of three undertrial prisoners by the state police.

State Home Minister R R Patil ordered an inquiry after the incident was aired in the media.

On Thursday, with slates slung around their necks mentioning their names and alleged crimes in bold, the three undertrials were paraded in the crowded by-lanes of Zaveri Bazaar and Bhuleshwar in the sub urban Mumbai.

Some human right activists said this was a blatant violation of the law. (ANI)
