Bangalore, Feb 21 (ANI): The Supreme Court today gave its nod to prosecute Nasscom Chief Som Mittal, for not providing enough security to a woman employee who was murdered three years ago A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan heard the case. According to sources, Mittal's plea was dismissed by the apex court, which ruled that company chiefs were responsible for employee security. Mittal has been charged under Sections 25 and 30(3) of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act 1961. The FIR lodged by the Karnataka Police accused him of violating an order of 2002, which seeks to regulate the employment of young men and women in night shifts. Earlier, an appeal by Mittal, to quash the FIR had been rejected by both the Karnataka High Court and another bench of the apex court. The specific incident pertains to the rape and murder of BPO employee Pratibha Srikanth Murthy on the night of December 13, 2005. Mittal was then the head of Hewlett Packard Global Soft Limited.
