New Delhi, June 23 As a delayed monsoon creates concern for farm output, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked officials to monitor the situation closely on everyday basis. Seasonal rains have stopped in the tracks near Mumbai in the absence of a strong surge. Generally, these rains should have covered most parts of the country by now. PM has asked the Cabinet Secretary to convene a meeting of a Committee of Secretaries and to monitor the situation on a daily basis. Earth Sciences Minister Prithviraj Chavan said the Prime Minister's Office, through the Cabinet Secretariat, has been monitoring the monsoon on a daily basis. Moreover, a meeting of agriculture secretaries of states that have not received any rains has been convened on Friday to take stock of the situation arising out of the delayed monsoon. (ANI)
