New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor today felicitated the 'Dare Devil' team of the Signals Corp for creating a world record by carrying 251 army men on 11 motor cycles and covering a distance of 240 meters.

General Kapoor complimented members of the team for their recent record-breaking feat, which was achieved on June 11, and for finding a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The team assured the Army Chief that they would soon be making an attempt to improve their own record.

The "Dare Devils" team of Signals Corp has to their credit five-world records since 1991. These records have been endorsed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The first world record was made at Gwalior in 1991 with 40 men on seven motorcycles and covered a distance of 400 meters. The second world record was made at Pune in 1993 with 81 men on nine motorcycles and covered a distance of 200 meters.

The third world record was made at Pune in 1996 with 140 men on 11 motorcycles traveled a distance of 100 meters. The fourth world record was made at Jabalpur in 2001 with 201 men on 10 motorcycles covered a distance of 100 meters.

The first "Dare Devils" display was organised in Shimla on March 10, 1935 during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of King George V and Queen Mary's accession to the throne.

Since 1950, the "Dare Devils" have performed over 800 displays all over the country both for the armed forces as well as civil institutions. By Praful Kumar Singh (ANI)
