Pakistan traders register good profits at Indian trade expo

New Delhi, Nov 23 Pakistan pavilion at the India's biggest ongoing trade expo, 'India International Trade Fair' does brisk business as visitors throng the pavilion, famous for its jade and marble furnishings and decorative items.

Pakistan, which is the partner country at the Trade Fair this year, has 123 stalls, showcasing items ranging from cosmetics, food and clothes to furnishings.

The pavilion attracts hundreds of visitors every year, and this year too there is no decline in the numbers.

Even the present economic crisis has not dampened the spirits, as more and more people make a beeline for the Pakistan pavilion.

Decorative items made from marble, Onyx, Jade are the most sought after at the expo.

"These items are made from Onyx, which is found in Baluchistan and these items are made on machine. This stone is only available in Pakistan and is exported to countries like Europe, America," said Shoaib Ahmed Jafri, a trader from Karachi.

Endless stream of visitors at the pavilion has set the cash registers ringing as traders are making good profits.

Goods from Pakistan hold a special attraction for Indians because of their exclusivity.

"When we come here the Indians throng our stalls. The rush is the most at Pakistan pavilion even in time of recession. Everything is special here. We have Onyx, marble, melamine, dry fruits, cosmetics, fabrics, everything is good here," said Sheikh Farooq Ahmed, Chairman, Fair Exhibition Committee, Federation Pakistan Chamber Of Commerce Industry.

Everything from food to clothes and marble items from Pakistan are a huge hit with the Indians.

"I saw the Pakistan pavilion and I liked it very much. I also made quite a few purchases," said Rahul, a visitor.

The food stalls here are really good. The marble items are quite eye catching India International Trade Fair (IITF) has emerged as Asia's biggest trade expo providing an opportunity to the countries like, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China to showcase their goods.

The 14-day affair provides good business prospects for the participants and is a lucrative platform for traders, both big and small to reap rich profits by directly selling their products to the customers. (ANI)
